Library Move Details

After years of planning, the Dwight Foster Public Library is moving ahead with expanding and renovating its building. To ensure undisrupted library services during the building project, the library will be relocating to temporary quarters beginning March 15th.

The temporary library will be located in the former Digistar building at the corner of Janesville and Rockwell Avenues. The library will be CLOSED beginning March 15th. "We anticipate the move will take approximately 2 weeks. However, it may take less time," reported Connie Meyer, Library Director. "We will reopen as soon as possible and will provide a reopening announcement to the Daily Union newspaper and WFAW as well as to our web site at www.fortlibrary.org . You may also follow us on Twitter for regular updates."

The bookdrop at the library at 102 E. Milwaukee Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, March 15. However, the library will OPEN a bookdrop at the temporary location on March 15. The bookdrop will be located in the parking lot behind the temporary library near the Rockwell Avenue parking lot entrance. Traffic will be routed one way in the section of the parking lot behind the library to allow for easy access to the bookdrop for vehicles. As a result, entry to the library's parking lot will only be from Janesville Avenue. You may exit at either Janesville or Rockwell Avenues.

The main entrance to the library will be under the blue awning, close to the Janesville Avenue entrance to the parking lot. The handicapped accessible entrance will be in the rear of the building next to the garage door near the Rockwell Avenue entrance to the parking lot. Two handicapped stalls will be available nearest the handicapped entrance. The back door will provide a grade level entry and ramping will be installed to allow access from the parking area. However, for security purposes, this door will be locked. People wishing to gain access through the back door will need to ring the installed doorbell so staff can come and open the door. "We appreciate your understanding while we make every effort to provide good access given the constraints of the temporary site."

The library's telephone number will remain the same: (920) 563-7790. Staff will be helping with the move beginning March 15th and unable to answer the telephone. Additionally, the phone system needs to be moved.

"It's important that people know that we will not be providing library services beginning on March 15th until we are situated in our new quarters. Please plan your library use accordingly," Meyer said. "We appreciate everyone's patience while we make the move and look forward to seeing you in our new temporary home!"
